Trying to work my way through White Collar and Justified right now. I know Justified can be awesome but... I'm not really feeling it. This happened to me the first time I tried to watch the show - around episode 6 I just start wanting to skip ahead. Must. Not.

White Collar, on the other hand, is really fun. My only issue with it is that it can be a bit simplistic. I mean, yeah, it's on USA, but... the pilot was just so damn smart I want all of it to be just as brilliant. Oh, and the Kate thing? Lame and boring. Boring and lame. And did I mention lame?

--

Then there's The Good Wife, which gave me all these FEEEELINGS. Sooo many feelings... )

--

And then there's Rachel Vincent's Soul Screamers series, which I can't stop thinking about.

If you don't read YA and have no idea what this series is then, well, you're not missing out in life. I'll admit that the only thing that made me read books 1-4 was the fact that I got them for review and pretty much had to. I mean, they were good, but they also really pissed me off. Or rather, Kaylee's (the MC) boyfriend pissed me off. A whole lot. And then book 3 happened and I wanted to kill him.

But book 4 made me a BE-LIEV-AHH. Seriously, all I can think about is this bloody series and it's annoying because I am so not that girl. Girl? Can I still be a girl when I'm in my 3rd decade? huh...

Where was I? Oh yes, FEELINGS.

I know that there are a shit-load of crossover videos on youtube - I really do get that. Youtube is where I discovered that, yes, I still ship Brian Kinney with anything-that-moves-no-verse-consistency-required. I get it.

But discovering that Castiel/Veronica Mars is a bit of a cult OTP? Pretty awesomely brilliant. If any girl deserves an angel of the lord, it would be Veronice.

Also, I find it rather amusing that vidders keep using Dean/Cas moments for his lurrrve scenes. Awww.

So, I was lucky enough to fanmix [livejournal.com profile] belial's Not From This Anger for this year's [livejournal.com profile] five0bang. It's a fabulous AU starring Steve and Danno and the rest of the gang as teens. FAB. Enjoy the story and enjoy the mix!

"Pinboard is not a social site, and it has always been about archiving, not sharing. I don't intend to make the same mistake Avos did and suddenly try to retool the site for a brand new group while neglecting the quiet link hoarders who form the Pinboard old guard. As a grouchy hermit, I like to think that other grouchy hermits should have a place to store stuff that will never feel like publishing or expose them to unwanted contact with other people.

At the same time, I think the fans are a very nice bunch who have been somewhat hard done by, and that their presence will be a long-term boon to the site. Like bees in a garden, the sudden arrival of a big swarm can be alarming, but all this swarm wants is a place to set up a hive and get to work. And I'll end this metaphor right now before it provokes any pollination slash."

I've been thinking about watching SPN again. Sometime during S4 I stopped watching, starting reading Dean/Cas fic obsessively, and then went back and binged on complete S4. And that was it. I've seen a grand total of 2 episodes from S5 and S6!

Thing is, all the meta out there? It made me want to shoot the producers. Which, in turn, made me think "those aren't the boys I love" whenever I'd try to watch on. But seeing people excited about S7.... well, it's made me think. Can I go back? I don't know, but I might maybe want to.

Hell, I'm a person who actually liked episode 2x01 of Hawaii Five-0. My standards are already low.

BTW, the surely must be a fabulously angsty Jane/Lisbon epic out there... right? I mean, I can't be the only one out there who wants to read that... right?

I am at the point where I am just emailing myself fic links in order to find the bloody things again. Oh Delicious, how I mean the real you.

But seriously, how did I live before Delicious? Was this why I had a rec journal? So I could just keep track of the bloody things? Why did life get so hard???

I am using my miserable!Castiel icon to express my displeasure. Which is immense, by the way.

Ok, not to be spoilery or anything, but OMFG THIS SHOW. Hawaii Five-0 makes me feel the way Supernatural used to - this show gives my stomach friggin' butterflies. LOVE IT.

And then - and then - to top off the epicness that was the Season 2 premerie, I find two deleted scenes from the last episode of S1.... And I start OMG-ing again. The sheer epic slashiness of these scenes hurts my brain. So I had to share:

I bring you... vid recs! Here are 4 brilliant vids you need to watch - all of them set to RAP. Yes, you heard me, R-A-P.

BtVS/AtS: Origin Stories by [livejournal.com profile] giandujakiss
Song: "Coffee" by Aesop Rock feat. John Darnielle
Summary: It's Nikki Wood's fucking coat.
Why it's awesome: Because Spike's Nikki Wood's leather coat is really bloody problematic. And yet, I didn't see it until I watched this vid. Because while fangirls always loved Spike in that coat, it really is the ultimate sign of his violent, evil, soulless past. As [livejournal.com profile] thuviaptarth so eloquently puts it: "And Spike goes out of the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer like he came in: wearing Nikki Wood's fucking coat.
He might as well be wearing her flayed skin."

Supernatural: A Charming Man by [livejournal.com profile] giandujakiss
Song: The Wondersmith and His Sons by Astronautalis
Summary: Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Castiel, vague Dean/Castiel
Why it's awesome: I am pretty sure this vid is my absolute favourite vid... ever. Ever, ever. Part of it is the pacing, part of it is the absolutely stunning narrative behind the vid, and a whole bunch of it is the brilliant that is [livejournal.com profile] giandujakiss. And then there is the not-so-subtle Dean/Cas subplot within it - oh, and there's the fact that the song literally describes the Supernatural cast to a T. Friggin' brilliant.

Hawaii Five-0: Are we real? by [livejournal.com profile] wistful_fever
Song: Are we real? by South Park Mexican
Summary: "I don't want to lose you, like I've lost so many." Steve/Danny
Why it's awesome: Fabella manages to take the hot, gay mess that is Hawaii Five-0 and turn it into deep, meaningful, epically tragic brillaliance. This song makes me want to cry... over Steve, for christ's sake. Oh, and then there is his manly pinning over Danny and Gracie to consider... it's just genius.

Game of Thrones: Mayday by [livejournal.com profile] meddow
Song: Mayday!!! by Flobots
Summary: The way that it is is not how it's gonna be. (The Starks)
Why it's awesome: First of all, it takes real guts to put epic fantasy to rap music. It really shouldn't work, but my God, does it ever in this vid. Mayday! is the perfect Stark family video. [livejournal.com profile] meddow manages to convey all that terribly wonderful Stark nobility, along with all the epic angst that comes with it, in just a few short minutes. Very very impressive.

Time Magazine discussed fanfiction (the HP fandom in particular) and is pretty awesome while doing so:

So it seems like my flist has imploded from too much Inception love.  While I am lovin that everyone is lovin the new Leo movie - I have to say I am at a loss.  Yay?

Shall got see it asap (or, at least, sometime this year).

I am a huge fanvid lover - and I'm also completely incompetent at it.  But still, when I see a good one - and there are some amazing vids out there - it can do more for me than a fic can.  I thought about embedding the vids here, but I didn't want anyone to forget to comment on the master posts!  And please do comment if you enjoy, vidders get astoundingly few comments for some bizarre reason...

Star Trek XI - James T. Kirk -  Circus by butterfly

This video is insanely popular for a good reason - it takes a fun, cheesy song and makes it work.  I must have watched it a dozen times and it only gets better.

Supernatural - Castiel - Nowhere to Stop by lola_thursday

Lola explores Castiel's new role on Earth, his relationship with Dean (there's a lovely hint of slash) and his rather mad path into the vices of humanity.  Also, this is quite possibly the most perfect Castiel song is existence.  Tru Fax.

Iron Man - Tony Stark - Cuz I Can by arefadedaway

I drink more than you - I party harder than you do - And my car's faster than yours too
Another example of a seriously cheesy song that a vidder just makes work.  This is the ultimate Tony Stark vid.

Dexter - Dexter - Ramalama (Bang Bang) by kiki_miserychic

This vid pretty much sums up why Dexter is so bloody terrifying.  The song is unnerving, the editing is practically flawless and Dexter is his mass-murdering self.  I love this vid.

Gone with the Wind - Scarlett - Gold Digger by absolutedestiny

Okay, first off?  Anyone who can set Kanye West to Gone with the World deserves a fucking Emmy.  Full stop.  Anyhow, this vid is one of my all time favourites.  The song is ludicrously appropriate for Scarlett and the editing still makes my heart pitter-patter.  ♥

Seriously??  Shore, where have you been hiding this awesome writing all these bloody years???

House+Wilson+Chase = GREATEST TEAM EVA.

EPISODES THAT REVOLVE AROUND HOW PRETTY CHASE IS = THE REST OF THE SEASON.

pretty please??

Season six is going to be so awesome!

pastself: (SPN - Jared and Finger Porn)
Russell T. Davies while talking about Torchwood just happened to bring up a show you might know (the bolding is mine)

Question: But it's a risky thing to kill off such a popular character.
DAVIES: Absolutely. There’s a risk that some people won’t come back to watch now that SPOILER CHARACTER's gone. I thank them for watching the show and I recommend they go watch Supernatural, because those boys are beautiful. And don’t tell me they’re brothers. [Laughs] Not in my mind.

I know loads of people were all outraged by this and whatever.

But I read that and flailed with happiness.
